In can hardly believe it, it’s finally here – the Spooky Poet Club Anthology! I’m so excited, I can’t wait for the launch!
This book (this real, physical book you can hold in your hands!) is the results of months of work and the contributions of over a dozen talented poets: Jazz McCoull, Nicholas Cairns, Christine Fowler, Aaron Wright, Haley, Beka Bowkett, Mark Gallie, Steve Lancaster, Ann Porro, Char, Andi Down, Jo Ross-Barrett, Steve Urwin, Jan, Em MacKellar, Cooper Robson, Moth McGowan, Charlie Care, Lauryn Thompson, Brogan Brannan… and yours truly! It blows my mind how many incredible poems I managed to pack into this little book, I’m eternally grateful to everyone who contributed.
“A gorgeous collection of occult gems, nestling together the macabre, the absurd and the otherworldly beautiful.”
Edalia Day, author of Too Pretty to Punch and Super Hamlet 64
The anthology is divided into four sections, each corresponding to the weeks of the original Spooky Poem Month: Haunted, Alien, Occult and Monstrosity. As a happy accident, it also end up being a very diverse anthology, with poems using horror as a lens to tackle many different topics, both personal and political. Although I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised, after all the Venn diagram of queer folks, neurodivergent folks and horror fans is almost a circle!
“Equal parts dark and devastating, yet tender and considerate.”
RJ Hunter, Loud Poets Slam Champion and author of Flustercuck
The Mysterious and Arcane Proceedings of the Spooky Poet Club will launch on Thursday the 24th October at Out of Your Head, tickets available here! If you should happen to be reading this before the 18th, and you happen to be a performer, you can also submit video/audio recording of a spooky poem for a chance to win a paid set!
After the launch, the anthology will be available to buy here on my website.
